This cycle of 19 short songs was inspired by the poetry of Jean-Thierry Boisseau, as well as the Bestiaires by Poulenc and Durey. The musical style, tonal and deliberately referential, is intended to underscore the amusing and satirical aspects of the poetry.. As in all vocal music, understanding of the text is the most important aspect of performance.
